b. Durative
The general durative marker in Bhojpuri is - which is suffixed to the verb stem and
followed by the simple past tense of auxiliary verb. It can be combined with any tense
categories: past, present and future. They are discussed as follows:
(i)Past durative
In past durative aspect, the durative marker - is followed by auxiliary -. The past
durative aspect involves three elements (1) the main verb stem and durative marker -
(2) the simple past tense of auxiliary verb - and tense marker and (3) number,
person, gender and honorificity agreement marker which is suffixed to the tense
marker. The form of the verb in past durative aspect is structured as:
Base+ (- ) + -+ PST+ (agreement marker)
