Page 38 - Bhojpuri Verb Morphology
P. 38
The derivative stems are obtained by consisting more than one morpheme. They are
polymorphic and their morphological structure is complex. The derivative stems are
obtained by adding different derivational suffixes to the basic verbs. In other words,
the derived verbal stems are derived from different word classes. So the derivative
process is a class changing process. . During the derivation process, the derivational
suffix - is added to the noun/adjective root, and a verb stem is derived, which bears
the causative meaning. Derivative verbal stems are obtained from non-verbal stems.
They are divided basically into two categories: the verbs obtained from noun and
adjectives.
