/ 'go with' (lit. take go)
/ 'put on'
/ 'drink him/her' (lit. drink give)
/ 'sleep' (lit. sleep go)
/'drink and see'
Two or more verbs can combine to form a verb+verb compound verb stem. Despite of
its complex form, it performs the role of a single verb stem in some cases, for
example:
(16)
a.
---
You Biratnagar go-PERF AUX-PST-FEM.2
'You had gone to Biratnagar.'
b.
Ravi tea take go.IMP.2(NH)
'Take your tea Ravi!'
In the string of complex verb stem, the first governs the meaning. The second one
shows the semantic content of the complex verb stem.
3.2 Stem classification
In inflection morphology, the final segments are the key conditioning factor for the
behaviour of the verb stem because they undergo certain modification, especially in
affixation system. A stem ending with a vowel segment behaves in a different manner
from the stem ending with consonant segment. Thus for inflectional purposes
Bhojpuri verb stems are divided into vowel final and consonant final stems.
3.2.1 Vowel final stems
Verb stem ending with vowel segment can be classified as stem with - final stem, -
final stem, - final stem,- final stem,- final stem and -final stem.
