                           --

                           Shyam tree cut-PST-3(NH)

                           'Shyam cut the tree.'

In sentence (81b), vowel -- is inserted between the verb stem - and tense marker

- to form causative sentence. Likewise in example (81d) the consonant -- is

inserted in verb stem. If we look at the sentence (81f), we find that the glide -- is

infixed in verb stem and thus the sentence has been causativized. Another example in
(81g,h) in order to causativized the sentence (81g) the vowel -- has been removed in

                    example (81h).

                    d. Affixation and internal modification

In the process of causativization some verb stems have the phenomena of affixation

                    and internal modification simultaneously.

                    (82)

                    a. 

                           --

                           I tree cut-PST-1

                           'I cut the tree.'

                    b. 

                           ---

                           I Hari-ERG tree cut-CAU-PST-1

'I made Hari to cut the tree.'

In (82a) the verb root  is causativized by adding causative morpheme  in (82b).

The resulting stem is  . In this process there is ablauting ( ) and the causative

morpheme - is appeared at the same time as suffix.
