As already noted, Bhojpuri is syntactically nominative-accusative. The
constituent order in Bhojpuri may be discussed as follows:
9.2.1 Order of constituents in simple clauses
The basic and variant word order of the core constituents in the simple clauses
are dealt with, as follows:
a) Unmarked order
Bhojpuri, a nominative-accusative Indo-Aryan language, holds the usual word
order of SOV. However, flexibility in the basic order is found in pragmatically marked
constructions. The basic/unmarked word order in Bhojpuri is discussed as follows:
(i) Intransitive clause
In an intransitive clause, the subject precedes the finite verb, as in (27).
(27) Subject-verb (SV)
