Khatriya caste owns the large part of land in tarai. Rajputs and Bhumihar fall under

                    Khatriya caste.

                    Bhojpuri society is male dominant. The role of the eldest male member is immense in
                    Bhojpurian family. Their decisions are final decision. The woman can't even call her

                    husband by his name. She rather calls him as 'Hari's father'(if their son name is Hari).
                    Woman doesn't talk directly with her husband's elder brothers or father-in-law. She
                    keeps  cover  her  head  before  elder  male  members  of  the  family.  The  elder  brother

                    doesn't touch the younger brother's wife. Most of the Bhojpurian families live in joint
                    family.

                    2.5 Genetic affiliation


                    Bhojpuri is an Indo-Aryan language. In Nepal, Indo-European family comprises Indo-
                    Aryan  group  of  language.  The  largest  group  of  the  population  speaks  Indo-Aryan
                    languages, which is the 80% of total population in Nepal.


                    Grierson  put  Bhojpuri  into  'Bihari'  group.  He  notes  that  Magahi,  Maithili  and
                    Bhojpuri are three dialects of Bihari.  The Bhojpuri language is the western branch of
                    the  Bihari  Sub-group  of  the  Eastern  group  of  the  Indo-Aryan  language  of  Indo-
