The grammatical morphemes presented in Table 9.2 follow the lexical
elements they are attached to. In case of the order of the grammatical morphemes, the

case marker always follows the number marker in Bhojpuri.
b) Linear order of constituents in the noun phrase
More than two modifiers may come in the same noun phrase, though it is not

very common to occur naturally in Bhojpuri. Except for the number and case markers
(grammatical modifiers), all the lexical modifiers presented in Table 9.1 normally

precede the head noun in the noun phrase.
The most common order of the noun phrase elements in Bhojpuri is presented in (3):

(3) NP→(Dem)-(Gen)-(Num)-(appositional phrase (AP))-Head
Examples of noun phrases demonstrating the elements in (3) are presented in

examples (4a-j).
